We all have our all-time-wouldn’t-change-it-for-anything favourite breed but can you hazard a guess as to which are the most popular breeds in the UK?
From 2009 till 2018 the Cocker Spaniel, Labrador and Springer Spaniel were the undisputed winners juggling for the top three spots but then the French Bulldog shouldered into the first position and knocked those firm favourites down a peg or two.
Until the introduction of Lucy's Law requiring that ALL dogs in the UK be formally registered, Mixed Breeds weren't too likely to show up on the most popular lists. But since the legislation took effect in April 2020 and the pandemic saw a boom in adoptions and lockdown puppies, the mixed breed has now claimed the top spot as Britain's most popular dog.
